Luke Novak, a local hockey player living in Canada, travels to Africa to see his father, who has recently changed jobs to work in an African mining business. This two-part film unfolds through several separate storylines: shortly after Luke's arrival, his father's mine collapses, leaving him in a rocky predicament. Luke and his newly found friend Themba are then held captive at a zoo, where a group of vultures threatens to kill an elephant for its horns. Meanwhile, Themba's sister falls ill and needs medicine, so Luke rides the new dirtbike his father bought him to the nearest village to come to her aid.
