After his father's death, T'Challa comes home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take the throne. His leadership is soon contested by factions both inside and outside the country. Drawing on powers reserved for Wakandan kings, he takes up the Black Panther mantle and teams with ex-girlfriend Nakia, the queen-mother, his younger sister, members of the Dora Milaje, and an American secret agent to prevent Wakanda from being pulled into a global conflict.
