After seven years of appeals are exhausted, Raymond Eames, a small-time drug dealer sentenced to death for killing a policeman, requests that his execution be photographed. Sensing a big story, the agent also sends a Time magazine reporter, and together they investigate the murder in a community where opinions are fixed and tensions run high.
