On a remote island off Hong Kong, the wealthy inhabitants celebrate an annual ritual with an operatic show. Police chief Yuan Kuei, puzzled by their prosperity despite no productivity, suspects a narcotics operation and orders two officers to monitor the opera troupe. What he doesn't know is that the islanders live off loot from a government gold galleon their ancestors raided centuries ago, and much of the treasure—along with a dormant vampire—lies buried beneath a pagoda.
