The society that emerged after Caesar’s reign has endured for generations. Apes now hold sway and mostly live in harmony, while humans survive in the margins. That balance comes under strain as a new ape ruler sets about building an empire. A young ape’s dangerous journey brings him face to face with the limits of what he has been taught about earlier times. He must decide what to believe and what to do with that knowledge, knowing the consequences will reach beyond his own kind.
