Plot
Warning: spoilers
Based on Leo Tolstoy's novel Father Sergius, Night Sun stars Julian Sands as Sergio, an 18th-century Italian nobleman expected to marry duchess Nastassja Kinski. Upon discovering she was previously the King's mistress, he renounces society and becomes a monk. At the hermitage, he struggles against sexual temptation and gains renown as a miracle worker, but eventually yields to a young seductress and, feeling unworthy of adulation, departs to wander as a homeless beggar.
