As Iemitsu and his brother Tadanaga compete for the shogunate, hidden conflicts arise between Shogun Hidetada's wife and the Ooku's mistresses, intensifying the rivalry. Meanwhile, Lord Ishida Mitsunari and the defeated Toyotomi faction scheme to undermine the Tokugawa Shogunate and reclaim national power.
